How do I join?

Please come and try us out for TWO FREE WEEKS at any point in the season, after which registration and payment is required.

If they like it, make friends and get settled in, we can then move on to ensure player registration is in place.

New Membership is NOW OPEN

Secure your place on the team for the 2026/27 season at Cooke Mini Rugby!

Step 1: Register and Pay on Klubfunder

Fees for the 2026/27 season are as follows:

• Membership: £125

• Additional sibling: £100, where one sibling pays the full fee

• Coach’s child: £55

We appreciate that this time of year is expensive, with bills for school uniforms and shoes, other activities and clubs, and prices continuing to rise across the board. We have therefore frozen our fees from last season.

If the one off, up front fee is a challenge, please get in touch and we can arrange a phased payment by standing order. One of the things as a club we pride ourselves on, is making rugby available and welcoming to everyone, so please do not let payment be a barrier.

Step 2: Register / Renew on Rugby Connect (IRFU)

All Mini-Rugby players *must* be registered with IRFU. This is free. You can either register (new members) or renew (those registered from previous seasons – you will also have received a reminder email from the IRFU).

Step 3: Buy playing kit on the VX3 Shop

Sales of playing kit will be available later in the year (no kit will be held by Cooke mini RFC, but anyone can try out and train in any reasonable set of sports playing kit). There’s no need to buy kit on your first time out, just wear something ready for running around in and some good boots for grip. We know how fast they grow, so have pre-loved exchanges and are very accommodating, the main thing is they play and have fun!

Please contact your age group if you have any issues. Thanks for your support.

♻️ Pre-loved Kit / Boot Exchange ♻️

This will run again during the first two Saturday mornings of the new season, keep an eye out on Social media or WhatsApp groups for details.

We also have second hand kit exchanges that include boots and should help with the players growth spurts.

Give it a try!

Both coaching and matches are typically on Saturday mornings. Coaching sessions at Shaw’s Bridge run from 09.30am to 10.45am (P1/2 & P3 end at 10.30am) , the starting times of matches vary, see the Fixtures list

Anyone new can try for TWO FREE WEEKS at any point in the season to allow you assess if mini-rugby is right for your child.

Please get in touch via our friendly Convenor, [email protected] or via Facebook, so we can put you in touch with your age-group coach.

What kit do I need?

The club has a bespoke kit available from VX3 through the links above – but for training, please wear any kit that your child feels comfortable playing in.

All rugby is played outdoors and subject to the elements therefore all players need:
• rugby/football boots,
• extra thermal layers (it can get cold), waterproof jacket (it can get wet)
• a named drinks bottle (is essential) and a healthy snack
• mouth guard / gum shield is compulsory for P4 and up

Please do not wear hooded items as this can cause injury if accidentally grabbed by the tackler.

Want to help us coach?

We are always keen to talk to any enthusiastic ex players or parents who want to help out with the Coaching. Several of our Coaches start with their own kids playing and it is great for the family spirit of the Club.

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY, you will need an Access NI Enhanced Disclosure Certificate, undergo safeguarding training and all other Ulster / IRFU training is available, come have a chat about how to get started or get in touch with another Coach for details.

Please get in touch via our friendly Convenor, [email protected], via Facebook or WhatsApp/call our Convenor Nick Cooper on: +44 7841 054 624
