Ballyclare Festival – What a Day
A brilliant day out at the Ballyclare Festival for our P3–P7 groups – great games across the board, played in proper conditions on soft pitches that tested everyone’s footwork (and balance).
Huge credit to Ballyclare Rugby Football Club for an exceptionally well run festival. From the organisation on the day, to the pitch management, parking marshals and overall set up – genuinely impressive and, if we are honest, a little enviable (making organisational notes all the way through).
Our players threw themselves into it, showed real resilience in the conditions, and played with great spirit throughout. Plenty of tries, plenty of tackles, and plenty of muddy smiles by the end.
Thanks as always to the coaches for keeping things moving, the referees for managing the games, and the parents for the sideline support (from behind the ropes, as instructed).
A cracking festival all round. Well done Ballyclare – we will be back.

P3 had some amazing games and great fun throughout the morning. Our TMoTW leant in heavily to the two touch tackle rule – running forwards, stepping wildly, passing accurately and scoring freely – Arthur!

Showed up today despite also playing a football match this morning!
Feeling frustrated by a few small uncharacteristic mistakes early on, he came back with a BANG and dominated in attack in defence in the remainder of the games. A great performance!

There are players who make the headlines for fancy off loads and mazy running but every strong team needs a ‘wrecker’ – who is just a pain in the behind to play against.
Peter O’Mahony, Richie McCaw, Ardie Savea all made careers by being ‘wreckers.’
Sophia-Lily is ours – today that red scrum cap was stuck into every single breakdown – slowing down and turning over the ball.
This girl never asks for special measures or favours – she just earns respect by getting the job done!
